Privacy Policy
Last Updated on Nov 11 2021
Yes, it’s another privacy policy you’re being asked to read but we have to have one and we do care about you and the data that we hold about you and we’re trying to do the right thing.

We will not share, sell or rent any information we hold about you. Your data is precious, you gave it to us for a particular purpose and we treat it with respect and care.

COMMITMENT TO DATA SECURITY

All information collected from you is stored in technically and physically secure environments. We use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, and we do everything we can to protect user information offline. Unfortunately, no transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we take reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of the information that you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk.

Robert Clay is the data controller and can be contacted at support@marketingwizdom.com

WHY DO WE COLLECT DATA?

Frankly, without data it would be really hard to work and communicate with clients and people who need our expertise. We also share useful information to ‘our list’, we know it’s useful because people write to us and tell us and so to send the information out we need to hold some simple data about the people we send it to.

When working with you:

- Data is usually gathered at the ‘getting to know each other’ stage prior to agreeing to work together
- During the course of any engagement, there will be a range of different projects and activities and further data is collected as we progress and deliver any agreed products or services.

To keep in touch with after any engagement has ended – we don’t abandon clients at the end of a project. We like to keep in touch, hear how their business is doing and add value where we can.

Where you have given us your consent:

- To send our regular business tips, blogs, and thought pieces
- To send occasional invitations to join our online communities, our events, online seminars/webinars and masterclasses.
- To deal with enquiries made through our website.

To comply with requirements:

- Such as legal and regulatory requirements
- Where you exercise your rights under data protection and make information requests

WHAT DO WE COLLECT?

From our website, we only collect the information you submit when you complete an opt-in or contact form or email us directly.

We do collect cookie information from Facebook and Google Analytics which tells us about the pages you visit on the website, how long you spend on a page and so on. Cookies don’t tell us who you are but its useful for us to understand how people use the website and help us improve your experience and the resources we provide. And of course, you can always switch cookies off.

Most of the business data we collect, other than client data, is from online forms or business cards that you’ve given us with the knowledge that it will be used to contact you.

So quite simply if you don’t want us to store that information or contact you – even if we might be able to do some great things together or have some great conversations over a coffee or a meal – then please don’t submit any online fprms or give your card to us.

The sort of personal information we collect is:

-  Name
-  Job title
-  Organisation name
-  Contact information such as email addresses and telephone numbers
-  Business address
-  Social media profiles
-  Website address
- Size of business

HOW LONG WILL THE INFORMATION BE KEPT?

Quite simply as long as its needed and for as long as it’s up to date. If emails bounce back to us because you changed your email address we will delete you from our system. But if you tell us that your email address or other contact details have changed we’ll overwrite that information with the new data.

There are legal requirements for certain types of data and so we will keep the data for as long as legally required.

Client or subscriber data is only held as long as we have agreed in any relevant contract, or if there is a legal requirement to keep it for longer. After that, we only keep contact details so that we can keep in touch and send you any information we think will be useful to you. And of course, you can opt out of receiving that information at any time.

WHO ELSE HAS ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION?

From time to time we might work with some associates who have access to your data but that will only be with your consent as part of the agreement between us, and these associates will always be required to keep the data safe and will never use it for their own purposes.

If you purchase from us online or  use a Company transactional or shopping service, we will pass information necessary to complete your order to our payment partners. Such information will typically include name, address and credit card billing details.

By permitting us to collect this information, you will be able to receive information on products and services that may be of interest to you, including related third party offers that we may send to you. You also enable us to personalise your experience with us so that we can provide you with the highest quality of service. We may also use this information to contact you about joint venture opportunities if it appears that you would be a suitable joint venture partner.

Emails or newsletters that we send electronically may use techniques such as web beacons or pixel tags to gather email metrics and information to improve the reader’s experience, such as the number of emails that are opened, whether they were forwarded or printed, the type of device from which they were opened, and the location (e.g. Town, city, state, county, country) associated with the applicable IP address.

If you visit this site with an open ID (such as Facebook, Twitter or Google), you may also be sharing and integrating data with third-party social media sites, and we may track aggregate data about the number of visits to this site with an open ID, the number of items “liked” on this site, or items on this site that you choose to share with a third-party social media site.

Other parties such as advertising partners and analytics companies may also be collecting information about your online activity across various websites over time. The information collected by those third parties may include identifiers that allow those third parties to tailor the ads that they serve to your computer or other device.

Because there is not yet a common understanding of how to interpret web browser-based “Do Not Track” signals other than cookies, we do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals that are undefined.

Please note that you do have the option to configure most web browsers to NOT accept cookies. However, be aware that disabling cookies may keep you from having access to some functions or services on this Website or the web-hosted software that runs on this Website.

AND IF YOU DON’T WANT TO HEAR FROM US? YOUR RIGHTS

You have the following rights:

-  The right to ask what personal data we hold about you at any time, for which we may charge a fee;
-  The right to ask us to update and correct any out-of-date or incorrect personal data that we hold about you free of charge; and
-  The right to opt out of any marketing communications that we may send you.

If you wish to exercise any of the above rights, please contact us using the contact details below. If you wish to unsubscribe from e-mail marketing communications that we send you, you can do so most easily by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any e-mail or newsletter we have sent to you.

If you feel that the way we are handling or using your data is causing you damage or distress, or if you have any other complaints, please contact our Chief Executive via support@marketingwizdom.com and we will strive to rectify the situation.

If you email, call or write to us and say ‘thank you but no thank you’ or words to that effect we will delete you from our records.

It’s your data and your choice, always.

And if you think that the data we hold is out of date then please email us straight away and we’ll correct it: support@marketingwizdom.com

LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

We don’t have many of these but please note this privacy policy only applies to our website and you would need to read the privacy policy of the linked website if you want to know how they will handle your personal data.

TRANSFERRING YOUR DATA OUTSIDE EUROPE

Because we have clients globally and also use global suppliers ourselves it is likely that some of our data is held on servers that are outside Europe, especially where cloud services and SAAS are used. And that’s because our web and/or email hosting companies and/or data storage companies are likely to use servers that are not in Europe, or that may be the case from time to time. Whilst these countries may not be covered by GDPR the organisations usually sign up to an equivalent code or are covered by other data protection legislation.

If you submit personal data to us you are agreeing that this data can be transferred out of the UK or Europe for storage or processing and we will always take steps to ensure your data is still protected and that security measures are in place.

UPDATING THE POLICY

There will sometimes be changes because something isn’t working properly, more clarity is needed or case law changes things and that means we, and everyone else, will have to update the privacy policy we use. It’s a pain but it has to be done.

By using our website you are agreeing to be bound by this policy. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy please email support@marketingwizdom.com

Thank you for reading this privacy policy.
